Three laps against five of the Crazy 88. Pick a circuit, stay on the tar, and throw a star at anyone who will not move over.
Three circuits, each of them three laps. The Hanzo Circuit runs through all three stretches: the bamboo straight, the lanterns of the House of Blue Leaves, and the snow garden. The Blue Leaves Loop is tighter and mostly blind. Snow Pass is the fastest, and has the least grip. The road is drawn the way arcade racers drew it in 1986, flat segments projected toward you, so the curves push back and cresting a hill lightens the car.
Both drivers sit up out of the roof. You throw stars forward; the Crazy 88 throw them back when you are in their mirrors. Three hits and a rival spins off into the grass, and you can lean on them door to door until they run out of road. Clout a lantern post at speed and you wreck as well, with the clock running while you slide.
